EchoFillEchoFill Privacy Policy
EchoFill is a browser extension that saves what you type into web forms and fills it back in for you later. This policy explains what EchoFill does with your information. The short version: your form answers stay on your device, and we never see them.
What EchoFill stores, and where
- Your saved answers ("profiles"). This is the text you typed and the choices you made on forms you asked EchoFill to record. On sites you approved for automatic filling, it also includes new answers you type on those sites' later pages (for multi-page forms). You can turn this off per profile in EchoFill's settings. It includes a few details that help EchoFill find the same fields again, such as field names and labels, and the website address you recorded on.
- Your settings, snippets and restore points.
All of this is stored only in your browser's local extension storage on your device. It is not uploaded, synced, or sent to us or anyone else. If you uninstall EchoFill, Chrome deletes this data. You can export it to a file, import it, or delete it at any time from EchoFill's settings.
EchoFill never records passwords, payment card numbers, card security codes or expiry dates, or U.S. Social Security numbers, even if you typed them into a form you recorded.
When EchoFill reads a web page
EchoFill reads the form on a page only in two cases:
- When you click EchoFill on that page. This uses Chrome's "active tab" permission, which lasts only for that page.
- **When you open a website you previously recorded and approved for automatic filling.** Chrome asks your permission for each such site individually. On those sites EchoFill fills the form and, unless you turn it off, notes new answers you type so the next visit fills them too. You can review and remove these sites at any time in EchoFill's settings, or in Chrome's extension settings.
EchoFill does not read your browsing history, does not track which sites you visit, and does not run on any other site.
Payments (EchoFill Pro)
If you buy EchoFill Pro, the payment is processed by ExtensionPay and Stripe. They receive your email address and payment details in order to process the payment and confirm your license. EchoFill checks your license status with ExtensionPay. That check sends only an identifier for your installation, never your form answers. We do not receive your full card number.
What we don't do
- No analytics, tracking, advertising, or selling of data.
- No remote code: all of EchoFill's code ships inside the extension.
- We do not use your data for any purpose other than filling forms for you.
Children
EchoFill is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the effective date above and describe the change in the extension's release notes.
